Being a mom is hard.

Anyone who says otherwise... I don't believe them!

As a mom you often spend most of your time taking care of the needs of those around you before you take care of your own, if at all. You end up stressed, overwhelmed, tiiiired, and your mental and physical health beings to suffer.

You don't realize it right away, but somewhere down the line, you notice:

  • you're not as confident as you used to be

  • you're uncomfortable in your clothes because they fit differently now

  • you've got more aches and pains than you had before

  • you don't like your picture being taken and have few photos of yourself with friends and family

  • your eating habits are not as balanced as you would like them to be

  • you're not getting as much rest and self-care as you should be

  • you've become stagnant in life and aren't doing the things you once found fun, playing with your kids, or moving your body in meaningful ways

  • you've had some health issues come up that you've never had to worry about until now

These  thoughts, feelings and behaviors are forming cracks in your relationships with yourself, your body, food, friends, family, and other areas of your life.

And then there are the external elements.

You spend your free time, which is mostly late at night once the kids are in bed and after you've finished cleaning up the various messes around the house, scrolling through social media. An ad here, celebrity or influence endorsement there; society at all times telling you that your "mom body", the body that carried, nourished and gave life, is somehow wrong. Not worthy, beautiful, sculpted, skinny. Enough.

So you diet. Keto/low-carb, paleo, Whole 30, "clean eating", low-fat, etc. You try one, it works a little, but then...no more progress and maybe you gain some weight back. You try another because you read online about the great results other women were getting so you try that one too. It's pretty restrictive, (no sugar, carbs, fruit?!, lemon water when you first wake up??) so of course you start losing weight and maaaybe start feeling a little better about yourself, but there's a catch:

➡️ you now categorize food as "good" and "bad"

➡️ you over exercise because you're chasing the perfect body and you have to make up for/punish yourself for something you ate

➡️ you fear eating those meals that used to be your favorites, you have "cheat days" but end up binging on everything you're "not allowed to have"

➡️ you're constantly left with feelings of guilt and failure

I've been there. I've been you. Those shoes are very familiar.

I know what it feels like to lose your sense of self after becoming a mom and what it feels like to be in a body you no longer recognize as your own. I understand the desire to want to fit the mold and look like the women you see on tv and social media because that's what you think you need to look like in order to be happy, successful, liked, heathy.

I know what it's like to feel like you need to try and do all the things so you can reach what has been deemed the "perfect body", only to end up feeling deprived, frustrated, and unhappy.

Diet culture's intent is to break you down so you keep trying to seek out, and spend money on, that elusive magic diet, pill, supplement, detox, etc. that will finally help you lose weight, cut cravings, get results fast, get the "perfect" body, or whatever the promise is.

I don't care what anyone else says. This is no way to live life and it definitely won't give you the sustainable results you're looking for. It's not only unsafe, but physically and mentally harmful. But I'm gonna let you in on a little secret, okay?

You don't have to go through the rest of your life this way!

 How do I know?

I was able to finally find my own unique balance!

Not through diets ( I tried those), restricting certain foods (tried this, too), wasting money on wraps, detoxes, pills or supplements (almost tried a few of these), exercising for more than an hour, or even exercising every single day.

What I've done, and have been doing for the last 3 years to help me reach my health goals and maintain my results, is follow my Better Balanced Mom Method: eating with purpose and joy, moving in ways that feel good and creating a positive mindset shift regarding food, body, self, and what health really means and looks like.

When you use this method you'll also find your very own unique balance that will allow you to live your best and healthiest life!

You have the strength to reject the diet mentality and learn how to reconnect with yourself and (re)discover what it means to make your health and wellness a priority.

They deserve to be taken care of just as well as you take care of your child(ren), family, and the people around you. You have the power to repair and rebuild your relationships with yourself, your body, and food so you can live your best and better balanced life.

Balance is going to look different for everyone, because no two people or bodies are the same. But one thing I know to always be true when it comes to achieving your goals is that when you make small changes over time you're more likely to reach success in the long run.

So whether you’re looking to find more balance with food, get your body moving more, lose weight, or work on a combination of things to improve your overall health and wellbeing - I'm here to help guide, support and cheer you on!
